Local Players To Enter Draft Early

Yesterday the NBA released its list of players who have decided to enter the NBA Draft before their college eligibility has run out. Growing up in Philadelphia and playing high school and college around the city I have gotten to see as well as play against some of these guys who will be testing the Draft waters this summer. Their are five early entrants in the NBA Draft from the area they are:

Wayne Ellington, 6-4, SG, Jr., North Carolina (Episcopal Academy)
Tyreke Evans, 6-5, G, Fr., Memphis (American Christian)
Gerald Henderson Jr., 6-5, SG, Jr., Duke (Episcopal Academy)
D.J. Rivera, 6-4, G, Jr., Binghamton (Neumann Goretti)
Terrence Roderick, 6-6, SF, Soph., UAB (Allentown Allen)

* Ellington, Evans, and Henderson all have a legitimate shot to be first round picks. Rivera and Roderick have little if no shot to be drafted, but might just be testing the waters to see where they stand.
* NBADraft.net 2009 mock draft has Henderson going as high as #9 and Ellington at #11, Evans is not far behind predicted to go as high as #17. By getting drafted in the first round, players are guaranteed a NBA contract. Those players drafted in the second round have no guarantee and essentially have to make the team to earn a contract.
